Machine to Machine Communication (M2M) in Internet of Things (IoT)
Internet of Things (IoT) is a paradigm whose aim is to implement the concept of interconnection of everything by using all possible technologies and others means. M2M communication is one of the components of IoT whose goal is to make the communication smooth and seamless between any two networking enabled devices. The network access technologies used as communication network infrastructure for supporting M2M communication differ from LANs such as Wi-Fi, ZigBee and Bluetooth to WANs such as GSM, UMTS, and LTE/LTE-A. We are working on optimization of LTE and Wi-Fi networks to facilitate M2M communication. In cellular M2M, we are looking on efficient resource allocation between H2H and M2M devices and reducing signaling overhead on the network due to large number of M2M devices. Apart from this, we are working on feasibility of downlink/uplink decoupling (DUDe) to reduce the power consumption at M2M devices. In Wi-Fi M2M, we are working on MAC layer resource optimization.
