Intelligent Transportation System (M2Smart)

Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) aims at providing smarter and safer transport and traffic management services. It comprises of sensing, analysis and use of communication technologies such as 802.11p/LTE-V/5G in order to improve road safety and efficiency. ITS includes Vehicle to Vehicle (V2V), Vehicle to Infrastructure (V2I) and Vehicle to anything (V2X) technologies which can be realized with a mix of wireless and wired technologies. Wireless technologies such as cellular and 802.11 can be used to connect moving vehicles, local infrastructure, etc to Cloud. Similarly, Bluetooth and WiFi-Direct can be used to share data among vehicles by establishing P2P connections on the fly.

In this work, we are building a reliable platform for grasping the traffic situation by building a system that effectively utilises mobile-devices. The system includes driver assistance Android application which provides services such as collision detection, incident reporting, and smart routing. Vehicles can communicate among themselves online and/or offline i.e., via Cloud and P2P links.
